Jim Stormont, President & Principal
Jim Stormont’s 37 years in hotel development and finance began at Marriott International and has included positions as CFO of Stormont Trice Corporation, Executive Vice President of Noble Investment Group, LLC and President of Stormont Hospitality Group, LLC. After a successful five-year stint as principal with Grove Street Partners, Jim re-established Stormont Hospitality Group in 2012 to respond to the market’s renewed demand for hotel development projects and currently serves as president of the company.
Throughout his hotel career, Jim Stormont has gained substantial experience in all aspects of the development, operation and ownership of hotels, conference centers and resorts. He has played an instrumental role in the successful structuring, financing and development of more than $2 billion of prominent hotel properties, including some of the most successful public/private hospitality projects in the U.S. A majority of these hospitality projects have involved structuring economically feasible, complex public/private partnerships requiring extensive legal and financial negotiations. Jim has gained a national reputation for his public/private hotel development expertise. Having achieved success in numerous hotel cycles, Jim brings a unique understanding and appreciation of the various components of the hotel investment business. Jim Stormont is a graduate of Middlebury College (B.A. in Economics) and Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management (M.B.A. in Finance)
An Atlanta, Georgia resident, Jim and his wife of 40+ years, Beth, have three grown children, Sarah, Mac and Andy. Jim has been involved in numerous community activities including serving as: an active member at the Rotary Club of Atlanta, president of his homeowner’s association, and Board Member (Finance Committee Chairman) of Atlanta Country Club where he plays to a scratch handicap. In 2010 Jim qualified and played in the US Senior Open golf tournament, and in both 2014 and 2016 Jim qualified and played in the US Senior Amateur golf tournament.
